About our company

Our commitment to sustainable tree and plant care practices is at the heart of everything we do. Fred Hyatt, originally from Northport, NY, is a second generation Arborist who grew up working for his family’s tree service company. After obtaining a Bachelors Degree in Plant Science from SUNY Cobleskill, Fred started his career as a Field Research Associate at the University of Maryland, studying the Black Oak decline on Long Island. One of his research sites was Shelter Island. Seeing the need for modern arborculture on the East End, Fred started Peconic Plant Care in 1994. Fred is an ISA Certified Arborist and NYS Licensed Applicator on Shelter Island.
